Hardware

What we offer

Our hardware department at Pegasus Mpower offers the following products and services:

Desktops / Workstations

A desktop computer is an independent personal computer that is made especially for use on a desk in an office or home. Desktop PCs are currently the most affordable and most common computers, and are best suited to users running fairly standard applications.

A workstation is essentially a desktop computer, but with higher performance capability than most desktop PCs. Workstations is primarily used by one person at a time, but other users can remotely connect to a workstation when necessary. Workstations tend to be better suited to users running intense applications that require greater graphics capability, processing power and multitasking ability.

Peripherals

A peripheral is a piece of computer hardware that is added to a computer in order to expand its abilities. More specifically, the term is used to describe those devices that are optional in nature, as opposed to hardware that is either demanded or always required in principle.
The term also tends to be applied to devices that are hooked up externally, typically like USB. Typical examples include joysticks, printers and scanners.

PDA's & Handhelds

Personal Digital Assistants (PDA's) are handheld computers that were originally designed as personal organizers, but became much more versatile over the years. PDA’s have many uses: calculation, use as a clock and calendar, playing computer games, accessing the Internet, sending and receiving E-mails, video recording, typewriting and word processing, use as an address book, making and writing on spreadsheets, use as a radio or stereo, and Global Positioning System (GPS). Newer PDA’s also have both color screens and audio capabilities, enabling them to be used as mobile phones (smartphones), web browsers, or portable media players. Many PDA’s can access the Internet, intranets or extranets via Wi-Fi, or Wireless Wide-Area Networks (WWAN’s). One of the most significant PDA characteristic is the presence of a touch screen.
